Gran Canaria Sights
Gran Canaria is the third largest of the Canary Islands and its most famous sight is probably the dunes of Maspalomas. It is also known for its sandy beaches and the capital city of Las Palmas, which is a popular cruise ship stop and the largest city in the Canary Islands.

Maspalomas
Maspalomas is a large resort town in the south of Gran Canaria, which includes the areas of Meloneras, Playa del Ingles and San Agustin. You can walk along the sea from one end to the other; however, it will take a couple of hours. The famous Maspalomas dunes are also located here - if you go for a wander through the dunes, bear in mind that while it may seem like a short and easy walk, it is actually quite tough to climb up and down in the sand.
When choosing an area to stay in, the thing to remember is that Meloneras is the more upmarket area, Playa del Ingles is more of a loud party zone and San Agustin is very quiet. There are lovely beaches in each area, and there is a nudist area by the dunes not far from the lighthouse.
For shopping, the area by the lighthouse is very nice with some lovely boutiques.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
If you visit Gran Canaria, make sure to go to Las Palmas at least once as it's absolutely beautiful. It's the capital of the island and a big cruise ship port.
Founded in the 15th century, Las Palmas has a wide array of picturesque streets and alleys that beckon to stroll and absorb the atmosphere. The main shopping street Calle Triana offers a good selection of high street brands.
Getting to Las Palmas from Maspalomas is very easy - just jump on the bus number 30. The trip will take about an hour.
